Scam Awareness

Notice to ALL STONE COUNTY BUISNESSES // BANKS:
There has been a rise in the number of reports made to the Stone County Sheriff's Office in reference to a scam having come to our area. This scam is using our local businesses and banks to steal monies from our citizens.
Citizens: It begins with a call from "Publisher's Clearing House" telling you that you have won a cash prize. DO NOT GIVE THEN ANY INFORMATION. You most likely never entered a contest to start with.
BUISINESSESS/BANKS: You are contacted one of three ways, a phone call, Email, or mail with a request to change the direct deposit of monies to a different account or even a card number. Collect as much information as you can from that requestor and then require the original account holder to come in in person with a photo identification before any changes are made.
