Sheriff Lance Bonds announced that on April 25, 2017, the Stone County Sheriff's Department, Sixteenth Judicial Drug Task Force and the Mountain View Police Department executed a search warrant at the residence of Benjamin R. Smith in Mountain View.

The Sheriff states that the search warrant came after receiving numerous complaints about the high volume of traffic and the dealing of Marijuana within one thousand feet of a church, as well as being in a neighborhood where children are frequently present.  

During the execution of the warrant, investigators located approximately one pound of marijuana, a firearm and numerous items of drug paraphernalia.  Smith has been arrested and charged with (1)Maintaining a Drug Premises within One Thousand feet of a Church (2) Simultaneous Possession of Drugs and Firearms (3) Possession of Marijuana over 4 ounces with purpose to deliver (4) Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.  

Smith's has a Circuit Court date of May, 2017
