Phone Scam

Sheriff Lance Bonds states that on February 3, 2017, a citizen contacted his office and filed a complaint concerning a phone scam. According to the information, the scammer claimed to be an Internal Revenue Service (I.R.S.) agent.

The scammer began telling the individual that a WARRANT of ARREST had been issued for them, and they needed personal information. When the personal information was refused, the scammer then began inquiring about family members. Again, no information was given and the scammer became irate and hung up on the person, ending the call. This specific scam telephone number is: 844-747-0851.

Sheriff Bonds cautions everyone to be aware that once you personal information is released, there is no getting it back. He further states that you should never give out any information about yourselves or family members. If you have a concern, hang up and contact your law enforcement agency immediately.
