News Release of Offender Caught

Sheriff Lance Bonds reports the following:


On July 29, 2014 at approximately 1:30AM, THE Stone County Sheriff’s Department received a 911 call from a Hwy. 263 residence in Fox, Arkansas. The caller stated that a white male, known as Jonathan Corter had poured gasoline onto the body of a white female, and ignited it with a cigarette lighter.
According to the victim and witnesses, Jonathan Corter (29 yrs. of age / Fox, Arkansas residence) unlawfully entered the victim’s resident through a window with a container of gasoline. Once inside, Corter threw the gasoline onto the body of the victim and chased her through the residence until restraining her in a corner. At this point Corter ignited the gasoline with a cigarette lighter and immediately fled the scene in a vehicle.
The suspect was not immediately located however; Corter was apprehended by Izard County authorities around midday on July 29, 2014. Corter is currently awaiting a probable cause hearing, and is being held in the Stone County Detention Center.
On July 30, 2014, bond was set at $200,000.00 for Corter.
The victim was transported via ambulance to a burn center in Little Rock. Further information concerning her condition is unknown at this time.
